Hydration Water Backpack
What's the best way to carry water during a 50 mile run? hydration backpack or waistpack?
I do plan on carrying a handheld. Also, how many gels are necessary?
50 miles!!! If you must carry it, I'd say a back pack. I don't imagine you'll get enough in a waist pack without it being uncomfortable.
The best option would be to arrange something so that you can pick up drinks on route. Not always possible, I know, but it would be so much easier!
As for gels, it depends on what you are drinking and how many you consume on smaller runs. Carb load for a couple of days before, take energy drinks, and take as many gels per mile as you normally would, but add an extra two or three just in case.
Hope this helps.
Good luck with the run, it'd be an amazing feat!
