Case Gun
How long was the case that held the barrels of a model 1862 gatling gun?
I mean the part of the gun that the barrels and the crank stick out of.
I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for, but I can tell you the six-barrel repeating gun designed and patented by Richard J. Gatling in 1862 had an overall length of this 36 inches with 11 1/2 inch barrels.
Gatling soon improved on the original six-barrel, .58 caliber version of the gun, which fired 350 rounds a minute, by designing a ten-barrel, .30 caliber model, which fired 400 rounds a minute. The U.S. Army adopted the Gatling gun in 1866, and it remained standard until it was replaced in the early twentieth century by the Maxim single-barrel machine gun.
