Knives Alaska
Knives Alaska
I want to do something similar to "The Alaska Experiement" and "Survivorman", where can I do that?
I want to go with my girlfriend and maybe a guide, if necessary (or in Alaska), by ourselves, with nothing but a tent, bedding, knife, survival tools etc. and a whole month of nothing to do and thousands of miles of wilderness to explore. Do you get what I'm looking for? I'm sure it is hard to find now a days, but any information would be helpful, thank you!
We have lots of people coming here (Alaska) every year to “survive” off the land and to camp out. And every year we have some die, most from drowning, exposure, falling and now and then by bear attack.
I used to help search and rescue look for the lost and dead. And so that maybe I can prevent you from ending up like that, I will give you information that may keep you alive.
Rule 1; STUDY about what you’re getting yourself into
2 Make sure you tell some one where your going and do not deviate from that route.
3 Learn the rules of bear country and NEVER eat in your tent or wear clothes to bed that smells like food.
4 Bring enough food for your trip, DO NOT expect to find it as you go
5 Carry a firearm unless it’s a national park
6 insect repellant; we have swarms of mosquitoes so thick they have been know to drive a person to suicide. Some areas have few others have thick clouds of them
7 bring the proper gear, clothes, fist aid kit, water purifier, emergency Personal Locator Beacons;

Alaska is beautiful but she can be brutal to those who don’t know what they are doing, even expert outdoorsmen and women get killed here every year.
I am not saying to give up the idea, my wife and I are in our mid 50’s and love the wilderness here; just learn all you can and be careful.
Oh and bring lots of film or memory cards for your camera; you’ll need it!

Palin still outside GOP establishment, poll shows
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin remains on the outskirts of the Republican establishment, a new poll of GOP insiders shows - though her decisions over where to appear this year suggest she may be interested in changing that.
