Matte Rifle
My Clear Matte spray paint finish on my gun turned the paint blotchy, white, and cracked in some areas. Help?
I recently painted over my black m14 airsoft rifle with olive drab. I waited for it to dry, then put on a second coat. I then waited for that to dry and decided to preserve the Paint by putting on a Rustoleum Paint Finish Matte. I put on an even layer, then waited about a half an hour. I came back and my gun was dark in some areas, and light in others. I thought it was just the drying process. I then put on some more where I had missed previously. I waited a Half hour and came out to check on how it was doing. The paint was cracking, folding, and turning faded white in some areas. I don't know what to do. Please Help!
Thanks
Go to a paint store and buy some MEK (about$10), put some on a rag, in a well ventilated area, like outside, and just work on one area at a time. It's kinda like nail polish remover, but 100 times stronger. Good luck!
p.s. the reason it turned cloudy on you is because the metal is a totally different temp. than the atmosphere. It doesn't happen every time, but sometimes it does.
