i have a air pistol can it help me in a break in?

i have a air pistol that travels 485 fps and shoots bbs and pellets now lets say a guy broke in and started stealing stuff and i told him to stop and i had him at gun point if he started running and i shot at him could it do enough damage to stop him lets say i shot him on his leg or in the back of the head ? and if it needs more fps is there another air pistol that goes faster that dose not look like a pistol and a rifle put together super long (barrel) and that does not cost 200 bucks?            (oh and i live in tx so its legal too shoot if they steal your stuff i think)

No. Criminals are cowards so an armed "victim" and they would run.

The imtimidation factor would make him stop or run. If you shot it that would be lost. But when it comes to an intruder it's best to shoot them dead. They can't talk or waste state money and you won't go to jail. If you shoot an intruder and they survive you will go to jail. It happens every time they survive. But they probably have a real gun. If you honestly are worried about that get a real gun. This wouldn't stop an intruder. And if he knew it was an air gun your dead. It would make him stop for half a second, piss him off and then kill you. These are criminals. I keep a loaded handgun (a real one) next to my bed.

My advice is to get a real gun. And real guns cost $300 or more. Save up and buy a 12 or 20 guage shotgun depending on your frame or a handgun if your 21 or over. You could get a cheap "junk" handgun like a Hi-point for $150-$210 but they are of sub-par quality. But they do have a unlimited lifetime warranty. I wouldn't risk my life with one though. I have a Smith&Wesson. I would reccomend a .40S&W as it does have more power than a 9mm with managable recoil. .45acp might be to much for smaller or lighter people.

And when you get one practice, practice, practice.
