what is the release mechanism in a kydex holster whats keeping the firearm in it?

I have a Blackhawk OWB holster and it has a flush button release on the side so your in safe positions with your trigger finger on the slide its nice but pretty obvious and where I live people are gun shy, I wanna buy a IWB kydex holster from side armor for CCW but I can't figure out how the holster retains the firearm I'm active so it can't fall out

The trigger guard area will snap around the gun and does a pretty fair job of retaining the gun. Some of these plastic holster will have a tension screw, but if you do not see it on the holster, then it's the trigger guard holding the gun.

Couple years ago I carried a full size H&K USP in a Kydex paddle holster when I was in plain clothes. My partner and I responded to an emergency call, I jumped into the passenger side and caught the butt of the gun on the door frame, There was a snapping sound and my gun wound up lying in the parking lot. The paddle broke, but the gun remained in the holster, retained by the trigger guard.

So, it is a simple but effective system. . ., paddle ain't worth a damn though.
