Hunting season is close by and the first thing that you need to do is to make sure that rifle that you have is adequate to survive the season. If the hunting rifle is not good then your hunting season will be a waste. It is better to start searching and procuring the new hunting rifle before the hunting season arrives upon you.

Toughness in hunting rifle is what you should be looking at when you are in the market to buy a hunting rifle. This is because that you want the rifle to last a few years. This is not to say that there are no factors but this is the most important factor in a rifle purchase.

The weight of a rifle is important because of the fact that it is you who has to carry the rifle. Apart from that the rifle needs vary for various animals such as deer of fox hunting may require different rifles than a squirrel or a grouse hunting.

Most rifles have weight between 6 to 9 pounds. However, the best is the one which you can carry comfortably over long distances while on a hunting trip.

Heavier guns are more accurate than the lighter ones but they are very heavy to carry especially in long distances. Apart from this range is another thing which is of importance in a rifle.

Range is more important when you are hunting for deer or bear or fox as you cannot get closer to them while hunting. In case of hunting for smaller animals you may not need that much range as you can get closer to them while taking the aim.

Some other factors are important but not as important as the above ones. One of those factors is your experience as some guns require special expertise in operating them. The second factor is the length between the cheek and the stock which can affect your aim.
