Mac G3 problems?

I have a PowerPC G3 running 9.2 that I need to get up and running so I can get some information off it. When I turned it on a little bit ago, it came up with a warning box that my date and time were not correct and to fix in the control panel. I did and when I rebooted, after trying to run Norton Utility, I get the dreaded bomb and I freeze up. I'm told the battery in the mother board is probably the problem but I REALLY need to get this computer up and running. Any thoughts on how to fix it without spending an arm and a leg???

You can buy the battery for a couple bucks at Radio Shack. It is usually purple & green & easy to take out. It is called your pram battery. Just pop the case open, you'll find it easy enough.
