Should I buy ACU gear?

I'm receiving my commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army next month, and to celebrate I thought about buying an ACU backpack and an ACU laptop case to match my ACUs.

But I've been hearing of the Army switching pattern styles and getting rid of the ACU Digital pattern.

What do you think? Are they going to switch? Should I buy the bags?

But no - my best friend is in Supply and I don't think we're getting rid of the digi-camo any time soon (although it's not that pleasant to look at - to me it looks like we're wearing bad pajamas).

The backpack you'll get issued to you - don't bother with that.

I'd say you should just stick with a black laptop case - it's kinda creepy to over-do it on the digi-camo. Besides, black (plain) is authorized - and you don't want to be the nerdy 2LT that's too HOOAH! for their own good, you know?

*They'll issue you a Ranger Ruck (HUGE backpack), an Assault Pack (regular backpack), and tons of littler ACU bags at CIF when you get to your duty station - so really, don't buy one unless the ones you get are too small for your needs!
