Holster Iwb Holster
Shoulder holster or IWB holster for my XD 45 ACP Tactical (5 inch barrel).?

I dont have a compact gun and dont have the money to get one right now. If anybody can help, I need to know what is a more fitting holster to use for a gun this size. Im 5' 9 and 200 lbs. I wear a big sweater usually but i live in florida. Summer time is rought over here.

shoulder holsters are a great idea...until you wear one a few days.

A J frame or a .380 class pistol is one thing... That Xd will be another.

I dont like horizontal shoulder holsters... I know that gun wont go off 99% of the time... but I really dont like standing behind a guy who carries that way. Plus, you really have to watch the sweep to the front when you present the weapon.

Shoulder holsters put you in more a "cross draw" situation... and it's easier for a bad guy to react to your move and pin your gun arm to your chest if he pick up on your move. Plus... the motion of the draw screws up any chance for "instinctive" or point shooting is a fast action situation.

I like strong side belt holster... the pistol moves to where you need it to be when you draw... and you can make a move a bit quicker if you need to.
If you wear pants with a belt a good IWB or pancake style holster. That gets you into pants with good belt loops...either style need a good heavy belt to work right...especially with a heavy pistol. IWB works better if your pants are about 2 inche bigger than normal too.

I like pancakes... the belt loops pull the butt of the pistol in tight.

Galco and Bianchi make good holsters.. there is a "tuckable" holster (I forget the brand) lots of guys like... it sets the pistol a little deeper and you can cover the butt with a tucked -in shirt.
