As conference play heats up in the Western Athletic Conference, bench play can be the difference in a tight game. Saturday night’s contest at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum was not one of those occasions.

Is the Celtics' bench gonna be strong enough to help win a title this year?
Obviously KG, Ray Allen, and Pierce will cause matchup nightmares and should provide plenty of wins this year...but...all three stars are 30 or older now...I look at Boston's bench and don't know who's capable of answering the bell when one of these three (or four, if you count the young PG Rondo as an intricate part of the puzzle, as I do) goes down with an injury, gets into foul trouble, or just needs a rest late in a game or in the season...
...By the way, I think Rondo may really thrive as a starter with this crew...I believe his skills, style and unselfishness will mesh well with the All-Star lineup? Any thoughts?
Rondo will be just right for chemistry. I like Kendrick, Tony Allen should be an excellent back up for Allen and Pierce but not as a replacement if one of them goes down for more than 5-10 games.Eddie House is also a good back up for Ray Allen and for Rondo. Posey is good but lacks the size to be a center. So I see Kendrick and Rondo as starters, Kendrick a little weak in that regard Rondo just fine. That leaves Tony Allen, Eddie House and Posey not a bad bunch off the bench but with the age and health of the big three a concern it will not be enough. The big three could just as easily blend quickly because they are smart veterans and hungry, as let egos get in the way.
The Celtics will certainly need a bench given the age of their big three, and history of injury regarding Allen and Pierce. Not that they old yet but they are old enough that if they play 35-40 minutes a game for 75 games they will be worn down in the playoffs and more apt to be injured.
