Is it legal to carry a rifle on your back on a motorcycle?

Is it legal to carry a rifle on your back on a motorcycle? I want to take my AK47 (perfectly legal in my state) to the shooting range on my crotch rocket motorcycle. I know it would look pretty suspicious lol but if it's legal to carry in your car why not on a motorcycle. Is this legal?

As long as it's not loaded, just put it in a case or whatever and keep it separate from the ammo.
