What scope would you put on a TC encore 223 rem hand gun?

I would like to shoot from 50 yards to 300 yrds at least and not spend more than $200. Do I need a hand gun scope or would a rifle scope work also? I got a cheap rifle scope on the hand gun right now and I cant set it. I think that the scope can not take the shock. Any help would be nice. Thanks

I have a 14" .223 ackley improved for my contender with a Burris pistol scope 3-12 power ballistic plex. makes a good long range gun as long as you have a good rest.

I also have a 12" encore barrel in standard 223 with a 2-7 power Burris pistol scope, this is the gun I carry when out in the country looking for coyotes.

for under 200 dollars you can find several handgun/pistol scopes on eBay, I recently purchased a 2.5 power NcStar for 35 bucks and have used it on a 44 mag contender with out any problems to date and have fired about 200 rounds with it.

If you want quality optics stay with Leupold, Burris and weaver. These all have very bright optics (for lower light condition) and clarity. As for power, the high the power the more difficult it will be to control with out a rest. I do a lot of hunting with a 2 and a 4 power scope, fixed power scope also weigh less the variable optics (something to consider if you will be walking alot or shooting off hand). If you shots are from 50-300 will work the best. I see 2 and 4 power Leupold's and Burris's handgun scopes on eBay sell for around 120-180 range.

you will want to stay away from rifle scope as the eye relief is only 3 to 4 inches where as a handgun / pistol scope is 11 - 20 depending on the power. the higher the power the less eye relief.

Burris and Leupold have life time warranties, if they ever break they will repair them free!
