In Runescape, when I am ranging in the long-range style, will my defence level affect my hits?
Pretty much what I'm asking is...
If I have 70 range 70 defence will I hit more often in the long-range style than if I had 70 range and 1 defence?
There are many things that can determine your range hits.
The most obvious is your range level... The higher it is, the higher you'll hit. EZPZ.
The bow you're using also determines how high you can hit - the better the bow, the better stat bonus is gives you in range attack. The higher this is the better.
Arrows also play a big part in your max hit. Well, sometimes. The better arrow you can use, the higher you can hit - if you're 70 range then steel will hit a lot more than bronze, also EZPZ.
The one thing that most people don't consider to affect your range hits is the monster you're killing. Certain ones (such as wizards) are prone to range attacks, so you'll hit higher more often. Ranging a guard you're more likely to get low hits etc.
Defence doesn't impact on range... Well, attacking. As you're already aware, the higher your defence the more 0s someone will hit on you if they're using range. You didn't ask this but; in order to protect yourself from magic you need a high defence level as well as a high magic level.
Things such as strength and attack don't impact on your hits - unless you're using the range/2H method. On one of my accounts I have 1 attack and 1 strength - I'm still able to max my hits quite easily.
