Bird Mount
Breeding budgies?
ok so i have 2 budgies. The "male" tries to mount the "female" but the female ,but the female gets mad i know she is not ready ,but my question is ,if one bird mounts the other bird does that necesarily mean that the on that mounts is male and the one that is mounted is female? The yellow one has a pink cere , he is a lutino so im not sure if he is a he or a she,and the female has a white cere, still young. The yellow one is the one that mounts the blue one.So does it mean the yellow is male and the blue is female or will they mount each other to show dominance? In my opinion the yellow one is more dominant, because she walks over to where the male is and without making a noise the male moves.
my ? was if the "male" mounts the "female",does it necisarily mean he is a male or is it also used to show dominance like in dogs?
if your budgie is lutino, you will need a blood test to know the sex and if the other bird is under a year, the cere probably hasn't changed so you cant tell what that one is either. the mounting is not always sexual, its also how animals establish dominance. your bird might just be trying to prove he/she is boss.
